Creation of the first house made of 3D printed concrete

Creation of the first house made of 3D printed concrete

This year, Saint-Gobain inaugurated the world's first house made entirely of 3D printed concrete.

This project was carried out in partnership with the Group's Dutch subsidiary: Saint-Gobain Weber Beamix. They have developed special high-tech mortars that can be used in 3D printing. This printing technique was also possible thanks to the close collaboration with the company Witteveen + Bros.

The SGR Paris teams and other entities of the group, who are very involved in this subject, are working with Saint-Gobain Weber Beamix on the associated technical challenges.

3D printing allows to realize very advantageous constructions compared to traditional ones:

1- Reduction in the number of materials
2- Reduction of the time of realization
3- Possibility to realize personal and renewed designs
4- Realization of more durable and efficient houses

This challenge meets the ambition of the Saint-Gobain group: MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER HOME. An ambition shared by all the Group's members.
